How Much Time Should You Book?
Choosing the right booking length depends on:
-
Guest count
-
Age group
-
Design complexity
-
Whether adults will participate
A common mistake is underbooking time. For example, booking 1 hour and 1 staff for 40+ children often means not every guest will be painted.
If you’re unsure, tell us your guest count and we’ll recommend the ideal setup.
Planning Tips for the Best Face Painting Experience
To keep things running smoothly, here are a few things to keep in mind:
-
Face painting takes time
-
If you're hosting a larger party, we recommend having additional activities available for guests while they wait.
-
Younger children may need simpler options or they might prefer painting on the arm instead
-
Children under 3 sometimes find it difficult to sit still for face painting. In many cases, a glitter tattoo or small arm design is a great first introduction.
-
If your event includes swimming, active games, dance activities or outdoor sports, we recommend scheduling those before face painting begins.
-
During warmer months, cheek art and half-face designs tend to hold up best.

FAQs
Q: How many guests can one face painter serve per hour?
A: The number of guests we can serve depends on the design complexity selected.
Please note that timing includes:
-
Guest seating and transitions
-
Design selection
-
Brush rinsing and sanitization
-
Natural event flow
Basic Designs = up to 3 minutes (17–20 guests per hour)
Medium Designs = 4–5 minutes (12–15 guests per hour)
Advanced Full-Face Designs = 6–8 minutes (8–10 guests per hour)
Q: How long does each face painting design take?
A: Approximate timing depends on design complexity:
Basic designs: Up to 3 minutes
Medium designs: 4–5 minutes
Advanced designs: 8–10 minutes
Q: What kinds of face painting designs do you offer?
A: We offer a wide variety of kid-approved designs. We will bring a menu sheet with us for children to choose from. Our menu is carefully curated to balance creativity, quality, and efficient guest flow.
Q: Can guests choose their own face painting designs?
A: Guests choose from our curated event design menu. Our menu includes our most popular designs and helps keep service efficient. From time to time we may be able to accommodate custom requests so long as they fit in the time slot.
If you have specific design requests, contact us before your event and we’ll let you know whether accommodation is possible.
Q: Can you match my party theme?
A: Often, yes. We frequently offer designs that complement popular themes such as: sports, princesses, holidays, unicorns etc.
Q: Your Mix and Match Package includes Face Painting, Glitter Tattoos and up to 25 Balloon Animals. What if I wanted to book more Balloon Animals?
A: Our Mix and Match Package is best for smaller events. If you require more than 25 Balloon Animals, we recommend booking a separate staff for Balloons only
Q: What type of face paint do you use?
A: We use professional-grade face/body paints.
These products are:
-
Non-toxic
-
Water-based
-
Hypoallergenic
-
Designed specifically for face and body art
They are washable with water and typically dry to the touch within a few minutes.
Q: Is face painting safe for sensitive skin?
A: For most children, yes. If your child has sensitive skin or has never been face painted before, we recommend starting with a small test patch on the arm or hand. Wait approximately 10 minutes to check for irritation before proceeding with a full design. If your child has known skin allergies or sensitivities, please let us know in advance.
Q: Is there anything you need me to supply?
A: Just the tables and chairs - otherwise, we cover everything: paints, brushes, tablecloths, wipes etc.
Q: Does face paint rub off easily?
A: Once dry, face paint is generally set.
However, because our paints are water-based, they may smudge if exposed to:
-
Water
-
Sweat
-
Swimming
-
Excessive rubbing
For events involving pools, splash pads, or active outdoor play, we recommend scheduling face painting afterward.
During warmer months, cheek and half-face designs tend to hold up best.
Q: What if some guests don’t want face painting?
A: No problem. Guests can choose alternative options such as:
-
Small arm or hand designs
-
Tattoo-style painted designs
-
Glitter tattoos (when booked as part of a mix-and-match package)
Q: Do you offer festival-style quick designs?
A: Yes. We offer fast-moving festival-style designs including:
-
Glitter glam accents
-
Sparkle masks
-
Speed-paint designs
-
Quick decorative looks
These are ideal for large guest counts.
Q: Can adults get face painting too?
A: Absolutely. Face painting is popular with guests of all ages, especially at:
-
Corporate family events
-
Festivals
-
Community celebrations
-
Themed parties
If adults will be participating, please include them in your guest count when selecting your booking duration.
Q: Can face painting be done outdoors?
A: Yes. For outdoor events, we strongly recommend a shaded setup area such as:
-
Under a tent
-
Under a tree
-
Covered patio spaces
-
Semi-covered outdoor areas
Direct sunlight affects paint performance and guest comfort. If tent coverage is required, the client is responsible for providing it.
Q: What happens if it rains?
A: We always recommend having a rain plan. If weather conditions are unsuitable, face painting must be moved indoors or to a fully covered sheltered area.
Q: Do you provide mirrors?
A: Yes. We provide mirrors at each station so guests can see their finished designs. This is usually one of the most exciting moments for kids.
Q: What setup does the face painter need?
A: For best results, we recommend a rectangular 4-foot or 6-foot table. One table can accommodate up to two face painters
Seating Requirements
-
1 chair per entertainer
-
1 chair per guest
Ideal Setup Location:
A calm area that is away from direct sunlight, loud speakers, food stations and major walkways.
Q: How do you manage lineups?
A: For private events, we typically use a sign-up list system rather than a physical line.
This allows guests to enjoy the party instead of waiting in line.
We can:
-
Collect guest names in advance
-
Create the list upon arrival
Guests are called individually when it’s their turn.
Q: What should children wear?
A: Regular party clothes are fine.
Q: What do your entertainers wear?
A: Our entertainers typically wear:
-
Black branded company t-shirts
-
Professional activewear bottoms
For formal or upscale events, all-black business casual attire may be available upon request.
Q: Can I request a preferred entertainer gender?
A: Yes, there is a section on our Booking Form for special requests, including entertainer gender preferences. Most of our staff are women, so we may not be able to accommodate male staff as readily.
Q: Do I have to tip the entertainer?
A: No. Gratuity is never expected. We pride ourselves on compensating our entertainers fairly.
That said, tips are always appreciated if you feel your entertainer provided exceptional service.
Q: Do I need to pay a deposit?
A: Yes.
Bookings $250 and under: $50 + HST non-refundable deposit
Bookings over $250: 30% non-refundable deposit
Your event date is officially secured once your deposit is received.
Q: What payment methods do you accept?
A: We accept:
-
Cash
-
E-transfer
-
EFT
-
Online credit card payment (up to $300, any balance over the first $300 has a 2.8% processing fee)
-
Corporate cheque
Q: When do I pay the remaining balance?
A: Final payment is due on or before the event date. Most private event clients provide payment on event day.
Many clients prefer placing payment in a sealed envelope for discreet handoff. Online payment may also be completed after service if arranged in advance.
Q: My child is under 3. Can they still participate?
A: Children under 3 may find it difficult to sit still for face painting. In many cases, a small arm design or glitter tattoo is a great first introduction.
Q: What if I’m unsure how much time to book?
A: Tell us:
-
Guest count
-
Guest ages
-
Event type
-
Preferred design level
We’ll recommend the ideal boking duration.
