Trick or treating can be considered somewhat of a tradition, but who says you can’t create new traditions? Whether you have older kids who are hitting the town with friends, or you’re concerned about food safety, we have your back. Let's talk about some fun trick-or-treating alternatives that'll make your kids forget all about roaming the neighborhood in search of candy.
Have a Halloween Party
You can invite friends over after dinner (or even for dinner). Do a little shindig OR keep it small with immediate family. Here are some pointers from experts in the field (aka: us)
First things first, let's talk ambiance; dim the lights and string up some (orange) fairy lights. Boom! Instant spooky atmosphere. Get creative with DIY decorations - paper bats on the walls, fake cobwebs in corners, and don't forget a fog machine!
Encourage everyone to dress up, you can even host an award ceremony for the “scariest costume”, “most-creative costume”, “funniest costume” etc.
For entertainment, you can book our Face Painting and Glitter Tattoo services or Spooky Slime as an added bonus (and for great photos). Games are also a great add on, like a mummy-wrapping contest using toilet paper, or Taboo Halloween Edition.
As for food, whip up some "witch's fingers" using pretzel rods and green-tinted white chocolate. Or how about "eyeball" cake pops? You can send all the kids home with a goody bag, knowing exactly where the snacks came from.
Outings
Turn off those porch lights and go on an adventure! A simple google search will tell you all about events being hosted in your city.
Top choice Toronto: Halloween at the Zoo (Boo at the Zoo) - Oct 25 & 26 only
Top choice Los Angeles: A Marionette Musical (boo-sical, they call it lol)

Movie Night
At home or the movie theatre, it’s up to you! If you‘re hosting at home, get the kids involved in the planning process - they'll love contributing their ideas! Set up a small snack station, convert the living room into an even cozier space with air mattresses (or actual mattresses).
Challenge yourself to get creative and have fun along with the kids! Have a safe (and spooky) Halloween!
