Party Planning 2.0: Less Planning, More Playing!

Dare we say it?

You don't need to schedule party entertainment for every moment of your kids party/event.

The integrity here is real… because this might be writing us out of longer bookings lol, but it’s true!

We’ve seen perfectly planned parties dissolve into chaos while simple, flexible celebrations are actually the better option. Because kids… they just wanna have fun.

Creating the Party Flow

Start with Free Play:

Let early arrivals naturally settle in with toys, games, or simple activities. This is a great time to have Face Painting, Balloon Animals, and Glitter Tattoos - because kids can sign up on our list as they come in.

Peak Entertainment:

Schedule your main entertainment when most guests have arrived (usually 30-45 minutes in) - for example, if you’ve booked our Slime Station, it’s best to have us there once all of your guests are onsite as this is an activity that most kids won’t want to miss. It’s happened a few times where late-comers experience disappointment because the station has already wrapped up and they see other children with their creations.

Wind Down Time:

Allow for organic play after structured activities - this is when friendships often blossom. Let them have some downtime before/after food and cake. In the past, we’ve found that after eating and socializing at their tables, kids really just want to lean into that chill time.

Setting Up Success Stations

Create zones that invite natural play and interaction:

  • Active Zone: Jump ropes, hula hoops, or simple obstacle course equipment

  • Quiet Corner: Board games, LEGO or Craft Stations

  • Social Spot: Comfortable seating with card games or conversation starters

Reading the Room

Every group of kids is different. Some will create elaborate imaginary games from nothing, while others might need a little guidance. The key is flexibility and observation.

It's perfectly okay if your party schedule gets derailed by kids having genuine fun. That's actually the goal!

Simple Ways to Support Natural Play

  • Provide Basic Props: A few balloons, board games, and play equipment can spark endless creativity

  • Create Space: Clear enough room for movement and group play and/or have a dedicated space where kids can let loose (remove anything that breaks easily, lol)

  • Have Backup Ideas: Keep a few simple group games in your back pocket, but don't feel pressured to use them. We’ve seen great success with planting an older friend/cousin in the mix to lead an organized game

The best parties find that sweet spot between structure and freedom. Trust us - when you stop trying to control every moment, the real party magic happens!
