Did you know that over 60% of parents stress about choosing the right entertainment for their child's birthday party? The reality is, it’s all about having the right preparation and insight! So let's dive into the world of kid's party entertainment to make your next event an age-appropriate hit.
Ages 3-5: The Magical Years
For our littlest party-goers, simplicity is key. Short attention spans mean quick, engaging activities are a must! 30-60 minutes of programming, coupled with free play and snacks is *chefs kiss*. These parties should be no longer than 2 hours, start to finish (cake time included).
Say “yes” to:
Balloon Animals: instantly light up any room with a variety of balloon sculptures from puppies and flowers to swords and bunny rabbits - a great add-on to play time.
Bubble Shows: Who doesn't love gigantic bubbles? It's science and magic rolled into one! While we don’t offer this service, here’s a great place to start: Toronto Bubble Show // Los Angeles Bubble Show
Toddler-friendly music sessions: Think "Baby Shark" meets "Wheels on the Bus" - get ready to dance. Simply search a pre-made playlist on YouTube or Spotify... or make your own!
Say “no” to:
Slime Parties: unless each child is accompanied by a parent while at the slime station, this is a recipe for disaster
Prolonged Structure: forget about 60 minutes of organized dance or games, we might be able to swing 30… tops!
Ages 6-9: The Adventure Seekers
These kiddos are all about action and imagination. Time to ramp up the excitement! This is by far the easiest age group to serve.
Face Painting and Glitter Tattoos: At this age, kids are beginning to develop their independent interests and love to be transformed. They can appreciate the small things and love taking photos to remember these moments.
Active Games, Slime and Hip Hop Dance: Structure is nothing new to this group, in fact, they strive with a fun facilitator (as long as the activities are geared to their interests). They can follow instructions and like to be challenged.
Crafts: Creativity and expression are BIG. At this point, you can set up a basic craft station and children will be able to handle themselves and create their own fun.
Ages 10-13: The Cool Crowd
Tweens can be tough, but fear not! We've got entertainment that'll impress even the most discerning pre-teens. Less is more - these little guys can smell fear and uncertainty.
LEGO Building contests: Let them channel their inner builder. Trust us, it's a hit… especially when competition is brought into the mix. Children can work individually or with partners (group work is not recommended as it’s best for each child to get their hands in the mix).
If you’re renting LEGO from us, be sure that you rent enough containers for the group size.
Gaming tournaments: Set up game consoles and screens throughout the space for some friendly competition. Children will be able to take turns playing and watching.
Paint Party: They love getting creative and having a decor item to take home. As a company, we set the vibe - music, aprons, tattoos, stencils and more!
Pro Tips for Party Success
Always have a backup plan. Things are unpredictable, and you want to be as prepared as possible!
Consider your space. A bouncy castle sounds fun, but not if it barely fits in your living room.
Don't forget the parents! For younger kids' parties, have a "grown-up corner" with refreshments.
Remember, the best parties are those where the kids (and you!) can relax and have fun. Whether you're in the bustling streets of Toronto or the sunny neighborhoods of Los Angeles, we love being a part of making your child's day a special one.
